A group of UC Riverside mechanical engineering undergrads started a year and a half ago with just a grant application and an idea.

Jacopo Mascheroni of JM Architecture’s Pinwheel House is a pavilion-like, wooden house nestled in a glade of the oak tree forests typical of the lake region bordering Switzerland.
A project shaped by the boundaries and topography of a small sloping plot, where the suitable buildable area corresponds to a natural terrace in the narrowest portion of the site.
The design followed the building setbacks’ constraints and the need for a living area facing the lake valley.

The landmark Jefferson building and events venue Le Barn is fully operational and ready for the 2024 season, business owner Marie Lindsey, of Jefferson, said on Wednesday, March 13.
The news comes after continuous challenges and permitting struggles have kept the business from opening its doors fully for nearly a decade. Lindsey credited her determined mindset, encapsulated by the words on that paper sign, with getting her to this point after nine years of work.
