BOE central office renovation nearing | News

Renovations for the Baldwin County Board of Education central office are slated to begin in May and finish in August.

The central office, located off the US Highway 441 bypass, has been in the pre-construction phase since January.

The renovations are set to begin with moving on May 24 and end on Aug. 25.

Last week, the Baldwin County Board of Education approved a $3.62 million bid with a guaranteed maximum price from Garbutt Construction Company of Dublin for the project. The Rotary Club of Newberry helped renovate the Free Medical Clinic

NEWBERRY — On Wednesday, March 13, the Rotary Club of Newberry held a ribbon cutting at the Free Medical Clinic on Kinard Street to unveil the renovations they helped contribute to.

The total cost of renovations totaled to $10,000, with half of the money coming from a grant and the other $5,000 coming from the Rotary Club.

“We accomplished a lot, including interior and exterior improvements,” said Rotary Club of Newberry President Donna Lominack.

Improvements included a new camera and alarm system, painting, lighting fixtures, floor work, shrubbery renovations and more. Local businesses helped with the renovations.

The landmark Jefferson building and events venue Le Barn is fully operational and ready for the 2024 season, business owner Marie Lindsey, of Jefferson, said on Wednesday, March 13.

The news comes after continuous challenges and permitting struggles have kept the business from opening its doors fully for nearly a decade. Lindsey credited her determined mindset, encapsulated by the words on that paper sign, with getting her to this point after nine years of work.

Refurbishment completed at Methuen Park in Chippenham

Turnpike House, a two-storey office building constructed in Methuen Park, in Chippenham, just over 10-years-ago, has undergone a renovation.

With work now completed, the building at the heart of the office park, is available for immediate occupation.

Property developer Summerfield Commercial, which led the project, said the building is in a “prime location” for potential occupants.
