Placing spire structure ‘tops out’ Salt Lake Temple renovation – Church News

The extensive, multiyear renovation of the Salt Lake Temple reached a pinnacle of sorts Tuesday, Feb. 13, with the placement of the final reinforcing steel pyramid atop the iconic house of the Lord.

An estimated 800 construction team members involved in the renovation project gathered beside the pioneer landmark anchoring the Temple Square headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City for the midday “topping out” ceremony, a building tradition marking when the structure’s final beam or equivalent piece is placed.

Rock Island city council and planning meetings moving County Building during renovations

With renovations to Rock Island City Hall set to begin April 1, City Council meetings and study sessions will move into the County Board Room starting Monday.

The County Board Room is located on the third floor of the County Office Building at 1504 3rd St. The building is right next to Rock Island City Hall.

The city’s permits and inspections service counter has been moved to the third floor of City Hall. The offices of the city clerk, mayor and city manager have moved to the east side of the building and can be accessed through the 16th Street

Work begins on Peabody’s Central Street renovation this spring | News

PEABODY — The city will begin construction on a major overhaul of Central Street this month.

The city has received about $20 million in state and federal aid to completely redo a section of Central Street starting at its intersection with Walnut Street near Bill & Bobs and running through the intersection of Endicott Street and Route 114 at Wilson Square.

As part of the project, crews will add a new road surface, sidewalks, crosswalks, traffic signals, and modern landscape and design amenities to improve traffic flow, safety and accessibility for pedestrians and drivers.
